Mr. Cutbirth is the president and CEO of Champlin and has over twenty five years of experience in the renewable energy industry.
Mr. Cutbirth joined Zond Corporation, one of the pioneers in the wind industry, twenty five years ago where he headed up finance. The company was sold to Enron and several years later, Mr. Cutbirth left Enron Wind to join the founder of Zond to start-up Clipper Windpower and was the original president of the company. Several years later, Clipper completed one of the most successful public offerings in the wind industry.
After leaving Clipper, Mr. Cutbirth subsequently formed Champlin Energy. Mr. Cutbirth has been integrally involved in the development, financing and construction of a dozen renewable energy projects over the years and has arranged, negotiated and closed in excess of $1.5 billion of debt and equity for energy projects around the world.
Prior to joining Zond, Mr. Cutbirth was Chief Financial Officer of an independent power producer that owned and operated approximately $300 million of power generating assets. Mr. Cutbirth’s business career has included chief financial officer of a manufacturing and supply company serving the oil, gas and agricultural industries and chief executive officer of a real estate development company that, through its affiliates, have acquired, entitled, developed, leased and sold approximately $300 million of residential, commercial and mixed use properties.
Mr. Cutbirth was also a former director of the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA). Mr. Cutbirth received a Bachelor of Science degree and an M.B.A. from the University of Southern California.
